Theme Thursday: Piles

I went with Cari's suggestion to Put Some Red in It.  What?  Everbody doesn't have giant piles of skating paraphernalia just laying about?  Or is it "lying"?

This is Rink Thornton today.  Needs some snow removal.  Looky!  Sunshine and blue sky!  Be still my beating heart!

Theme:  Piles was my suggestion, because when I look around, I got lots to choose from.

This is getting installed in our new office/playroom, hopefully later today, since it's blocking the recliner.

I DID white balance this!  I DID!  But it's still weird.  See pile of detritus in my soon to be office?  It all started when the Chef accidentally ripped out the back of our house last summer.  See that wall under the window?  Well, he was replacing the windows and found some water/ant damaged wood, so he removed it. All of it.  And then there was a big gaping hole in the back of my house.  But like St. Paul says, "All things come to good."  Now, I'm getting a lovely brand new space for a desk and toys and books.  Lord knows we need more space for books.

Yes, that is a set of encyclopedias down there.  Yes, I should crack open that grammar book and review lie vs. lay.

I have spawned a Bibliophile.

My ridiculous collection of vintage and repro Little Golden Books is put to good use.

It's very hard to see the piles of snow on ice planet Hoth.  See how I put red in it?  This was shortly after he brutally murdered the snowman you saw last week.

This little pig stayed in the house.

She did get to go sledding on Mt. Jackson Middle School Hill the day before.  You can't see the vertical climb that I'm making or feel the burning hamstrings or the stinging sleet.

She loved it.

I'll call this one, Handsome Boy Sitting on Snowman Corpse.

Next week, we'll be Seeing Green!  I have stocked up on toxic cookie icing in anticipation of the big event.

Check out Clan Donaldson for more piles.

  3. Have you read Twelve Kinds of Ice, by Ellen Byran Obed? I think you would love it, especially after seeing these skating pictures!

  4. Hahahha- the first one of little J looking mournfully at her cup kills me. "Nobody understands me but you, Mr. Sippy Cup".

And that red handle! It's like the whole world is on board with the "put some red in it" concept.
My Uncle Jim is smiling from wherever he is right now.

  5. We do not have a giant pile of skates, but if we did, it would most certainly look like that.

I LOVE the ones of your daughter looking out the window, sad and sweet.

Handsome Boy on Snowman Corpse is destined to make you long for the past 20 years from now. Love the red.

  6. Wow look at all those skates! I wish my kids could learn but lessons are so expensive and we don't have our own rink. I better not let them know that some people can skate whenever they want :)

  7. Kids next to a pile of books is a common theme in our house - too cute!

  8. Ah, aspired reader! I also have them:)
Good luck with the floor! My future project as well...

  9. Red red red! It just works, doesn't it? Cari's Uncle Jum was a genius.

Love it all: but especially skates, baby reading, and the snowman corpse shot.

    Good job!
